PART 1: Training Program Overview

The DCA™ Certification Process begins with a 10-week hybrid educational curriculum including both video-based and live learning. It's the best of both worlds that works around your busy life.

  • Training Designed For Your Busy Schedule

You're busy and we know it. Our learning content is delivered via pre-recorded video so you can watch whenever it works for you. Each week's module consists of approximately 90 minutes of training and coaching demos broken into 3-4 lessons so you can spread them throughout your week.

  • Personal Workbook To Put Learning Into Action

You'll get access to your own personal dashboard. After watching the videos for each weekly training module, you'll complete about 30 minutes of personal reflections or exercises to reinforce what you've just learned. At the end of the program, you can download your workbook to keep as a reference tool.

  • Live Weekly Q&A Zoom Calls With the Instructors

But I have questions! We hope you do. After you complete the videos and workbook, you'll hop on a 90-minute live Zoom calls with the instructors. General/US program calls are held Tues 3pm ET, Wed 7pm ET and Thurs 12pm ET; Australian program calls are Tues 8am AEST and Thurs 7pm AEST.

Training Program Outline

Here's a week-by-week look at the course content you'll get in our revolutionary divorce coach training program.

  • MODULE 1:
    Program Goals and Expectations

We'll start out with everything you need to know about what to expect, how to navigate the course, and how to set yourself up for success. We'll go over schedules and expectations for weekly videos, workbook assignments, and live Q&A calls.

  • MODULE 2:
Intro to ADR and the Divorce Landscape

What is alternative dispute resolution and how does divorce coaching fit in? You'll learn the history and evolution of ADR, how divorce impacts families, and how divorce coaching helps clients at every stage in the process.

  • MODULE 3:
DCA Coaching and the RESOLVE Approach

This module introduces you to DCA's revolutionary approach to divorce coaching and dives deep into the RESOLVE approach - our ADR foundation that underlies every coaching skill and strategy you'll learn.

  • MODULE 4:
    Coach’s IMPACT Framework

IMPACT is the acronym we use for the 6 specific coaching skills you'll learn to create transformation in your clients. Coaching isn't a conversation with a friend and it isn't advice, it's supporting the client to self-discover their own solutions.

  • MODULE 5:
    Session FLOW Framework

In order for every single coaching session to be effective, there needs to be structure. Session FLOW provides the framework you will use to deliver maximum results and make every moment with your client count.

  • MODULE 6:
    Fundamentals of Divorce

In this module we'll cover the divorce options available to clients, review the big decisions they need to make, set you up to help clients get prepared and stay organized, and demystify the financial disclosure and discovery process.

  • MODULE 7
    Conflict Management and Communication

All divorce involves conflict, so we give you the theory behind conflict styles and conflict patterns as well as the tools and skills to help clients de-escalate divorce conflict so they can communicate and move toward resolution.

  • MODULE 8:
Working with Clients - The Story

Clients have their own story of divorce and that story is often accompanied by big emotions. Emotional management is key to avoiding the biggest mistakes in divorce and gaining clarity about their real goals and values.

  • MODULE 9:
Working with Clients - The Business

The end goal is to negotiate effectively and finalize the terms of their divorce. This module covers negotiation, decision making, and the details of parenting plans and marital settlement agreements.

  • MODULE 10:
Nuts and Bolts of Starting Your Practice

Once you finish your certification, you'll be setting up a business. We'll help you focus on the right things without getting distracted by shiny object syndrome so you can get clients and start building your practice.

  • FINAL WRAP UP:
    Mentor Coaching and Certification

And finally, it's time to get ready for your 9 weeks of professional mentor coaching - one of the favorite aspects of our program. We'll review requirements for certification, do a final check-in, and answer any last questions.

We're Different And We Know It

Being revolutionary means standing out from the crowd

The world of divorce is moving away from litigated adversarial proceedings in a family court system already pushed to capacity that focuses on adjudication and applying statutes of law.

Instead, we are seeing innovations in Alternative Dispute Resolution continue to emerge to help families navigate the process of divorce in the least adversarial and contentious way. Adding a properly trained ADR Divorce Coach to the ADR process further reduces the emotional and financial strain on divorcing couples.

DCA's ADR Divorce Coach training will position you to be ready to embrace this change and support clients shifting from traditional litigation to more client-directed ADR processes to resolve their disagreements.
